At present, no rains are expected in Auburn after today's rain, but this video is worth seeing anyway.
Eric Kleypas is Auburn Director of Athletic Turf and Grounds for Auburn.
DID YOU KNOW? Jordan-Hare's Pat Dye Field has a 1% slope from the center of the field to the sidelines, solely for the purpose of water drainage. Almost all other college football fields use 1/2% slope so as to make it look 'flat'. So our guys should have a 1/2% "home comfort" passing accuracy advantage over visiting opponents. LOL.
The other huge reason J-H field drains even amid a major rain event, is the soil is heavily sand-based, with drains below it that run water to the Auburn sewer system. The field can drain 19-20" of water per hour.
Cow college has NO equal in turf management for game day. NONE.
