Been a while since we lost a game and we were definitely due. Florida was the more physical and tough team and we just did not match that until it was too late. As we've seen all year, our staff will address and adjust to our issues shown today.
You cannot give up 90 and expect to win. We let Clayton get going early and the two Aussies made plays all game long. Early we gave up the lane resulting in wide open kickout threes. Second half we got bullied on the glass as a result of switches. It seemed like every time we threatened, Florida made some sort of 50/50 play to shut us down. All game long. We are better defensively than this showing.
Florida did defensively what I think is the best strategy against us. Play physical and wide on the guards daring them to make a play. Play straight up against Broome so they don't give up all the 3's and sit on his left hand. It's really shocking we haven't seen this more. The Condon kid a d Chinyelu were very disciplined and tough defensively and Johni really struggled with it. He is big and strong, but really is a finesse guy. Thought Chaney and Miles were very aggressive and responded to adversity. Tahaad was Tahaad. Chad, Cardwell, and Denver were non-existent today. Need more from them. We missed some open threes that normally go in and we missed nine free throws several being by high percentage shooters. Just felt like one of those days that nothing works out.
Again, this was coming and hopefully it's an eye opener to correct some things. I always hate to lose, but if a loss in February builds a team that wins in March then it's not a horrible thing.
