We were evacuated from our house last night due to a large wildfire (table rock) bearing down on our neighborhood in Cedar Mountain NC. We just finished building this fall and the whole family loves where we are and we have been thriving. The fire has doubled in size the last couple of days and the number of fire friendly weather days and direction of wind before next forecasted rain (not to mention all the storm debris on ground for fuel) has me very very concerned and I think it will be close. They have been unable to get any containment in a week that included a somewhat rainy and humid day.
Obviously the important thing is that we are all safe and I keep my family safe.......but abandoning my home was the strangest feeling and I realized how important it was to us.
