Let me start by saying that I love Bruce Pearl, he is a phenomenal coach. Auburn basketball is better because of him. I hope he is here for a long time.
So last night, MCLEMORE goes for 12 & 13 in 28 minutes. Was finally given some real playing time and he capitalized on his opportunity.
Feel bad for Horace. Good kid. Seems to love Auburn. But if Bruce is serious about putting this team in the best position to win, these are the kind of minutes Anfernee should be getting.
Bruce loves Bryce Brown and I think he is a good player. But for the life of me, I cannot understand why he gets more minutes, SIGNFICANTLY more minutes than Mustapha Heron, our NBA hopeful(!!), on a nightly basis. Give Mustapha 36 minutes and we win by 20+ last night.
Not complaining about the point differential, will take the win any way we can get it. Just pointing out, that for all that Bruce does well, which is A LOT, he seems to really struggle with time management for his rosters.
For perspective, Collin Sexton, 5 star point guard and best player for our little brother, is leading his team in minutes, AVERAGING over 30 minutes a game this season.
Mustapha has only played 30 minutes once this season.
Bryce Brown? 4 times.
Bryce Brown has played the most minutes in 5 of our 6 games this season. This is inexcusable.
Danjel played nearly 30 minutes a game last season. That was inexcusable.
Mustapha Heron not leading the team in minutes this season is inexcusable.
In order to put our team in the best position moving forward, BP must address this issue.
Just give your best players the most minutes. It really is that simple.
