I've driven by this place a lot and never stopped. Finally went in today and was very impressed. It's a hole in the wall and we ordered carry out. Walked outside to wait and saw this old guy out back cooking on what looked to be a 500 gal propane tank turned on its end making it vertical. Monster fire box welded at the base. Went and talked to him and he opened it up to show me the cook. Had spinning grates top to bottom with butts on the bottom and brisket at the top. Ribs and chicken in the middle. He said the top only gets around 220 and he cooks the brisket for two days.
We got the family combo with a 1/2 pound pulled, 1/2 chicken, and 1/2 rack. Came with buns, two large sides and a large side of sauce. The food was outstanding. I'd put chicken as the second hardest to get right behind brisket and it was perfectly cooked. Sides were good and although I'm a vinegar sauce first guy, and this was tomato based, it kind of fell in between the two by not being too sweet or thick. Very good sauce. Easily the best restaurant BBQ I've had in years. All for $35. It's on Gulf Beach Hwy. Give it a try if you're in the area. I don't think they have a website. Trip Advisor linked below.
