The closest I can think of is Brandon Cox after people were hating on Campbell in the first half of the 2004 LSU game, but his success didn't come til a year later when he actually got to play.
This isn't a defense for Thorne; since he's a paid transfer and no longer an amateur athlete we can comfortably say he is awful. No idea why we haven't recruited a legitimate second string, but history says help isn't on the bench.
