During a press availability Wednesday, junior defensive tackle DJ Hicks was asked about how the defensive line will replace three potential NFL draft picks and what fans can expect from the unit in the future. Hicks responded, in part, saying the unit’s motto is “C.B.O.”
In a follow-up question asking what “C.B.O.” stood for, Hicks said, “In simple terms, choke a woman out. Let’s say that.”
No athletics communications staff corrected or clarified Hicks’ remarks during or after his press availability. In the video of the press conference posted by the athletics department on YouTube, Hick’s clarification quote was removed.
When asked about the comments during his scheduled media availability, A&M head coach Mike Elko said it was “absolutely ridiculous that that was stated.”
“It’s conveying something that shouldn’t be conveyed,” Elko said, after a disappointed look down at the podium. “So, we’ll get that handled and addressed.”
