We still have it in our school suspend I paddled 5 boys this year (4 were in 8th grade and 1 was in 6th). I paddled 2 for skipping class, 2 for wrestling in locker room and 1 for disrespect). Now, we always give them the choice of a paddling or in school suspension and they chose to be paddled.
Let me also say that I don’t wake up hoping I get to paddle a student that day, it is always a last resort. I use other punishments before it gets to a paddling.
The parents are always notified, there is a witness to the paddling and a form is sent home.
