AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn’s Johni Broome (Plant City, Fla.) was one of five players honored on the Associated Press All-America First Team on Tuesday.

The SEC Player of the Year and All-SEC First Team selection was joined on the first team by Cooper Flagg of Duke, Braden Smith of Purdue, Mark Sears of Alabama and Walter Clayton Jr. of Florida.

Broome is the only player in the country currently averaging at least 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 blocks this season.

He and Hunter Dickinson of Kansas are the only players who enter the NCAA Tournament ranked in the Top 5 among all active D-I players in career points and rebounds.

Broome has tallied 2,612 points, 1,533 rebounds and 414 rebounds to date in his five-year career combined at Auburn and Morehead State. He currently ranks ninth with 1,628 points on Auburn’s all-time career scoring list.

Last week, Broome earned National College Player of the Year and All-America First Team honors from The Sporting News and is the second player in program history to repeat as an All-American in back-to-back seasons next to Chuck Person in 1984-85 and 1985-86.
