My son (sophomore at W&L) is starting to look for summer internship opportunities and is interested in these areas, but some former students and other professionals (ex. portfolio managers, wealth management) are advising him to look at other areas in finance. Looking for someone in the industry to talk with him for 15 minutes and give him an overview of the profession and set expectations. Also would like for him to understand the difference of working with a NYC IB vs. IB in Charolette, ATL, DFW, DC, etc.
Obviously, he would need industry experience before moving into PE and VC.
