Throughout the 1980s, Auburn's men's basketball frequently squared off against the UAB Blazers in the Magic City on the night before the Iron Bowl. It was always a cool addition to the rivalry week.
I wish we still had something similar, maybe playing UAB in Auburn for the odd-numbered years. For the years when the Iron Bowl is in T-Town, just play the Blazers in the Magic City so Auburn folks who don't live in the B-ham-Hoover MSA could cut their drive time to the football game the next day.
