Evening, Bunk.

We are aware of the various rumors that have been floating around about various members of the football staff. We have intentionally remained silent on this issue because we don’t speculate on private, legal (pseudo-legal) things that haven’t yet been adjudicated. It’s unfair, unprofessional and, frankly, gauche.

With that said, we currently anticipate additional changes involving the coaching staff. We expect an announcement in short order — as soon as tonight (Thursday the 11th of January 2024).

Any attrition is out of Hugh Freeze’s control. We’ll discuss this more at a later juncture.

We don’t expect all changes to involve attrition. Auburn has been fighting doggedly to either retain or reclaim (it’s a matter of parallax or semantics) Wesley “Crime Dog” McGriff for an on-the-field coaching position. We honestly don‘t understand the specifics of how that would/will work, but we also firmly believe there’s a good chance it will happen. He is extremely popular among players, coaches and staff. People are very loyal to him.

For those of you who will criticize me for being too vague or coming to you with only part of a story, I acknowledge that it’s not ideal. At the same time, your entire Mod/Writer team here believes there are times when we tell you what we know even if it’s an incomplete impression of a complicated scene. This is one of those times.

We appreciate you and will update as conditions merit.
