On the up and up
Auburn Football is in a tough spot. Our biggest rivals are sitting atop the CFB world with perhaps the largest gap between competitors that we've seen in this sport. This is not an easy job on the field. Off the field, its perhaps even more difficult. You have to navigate a toxic gumbo made up of extremely passionate fans who are tired of losing, a few big dollar donors who have a vision that they feel has not been executed upon in some time, and an overall disjointed leadership, whatever that means. Add in the new world of NIL.. there is a LOT of factor in.

So what exactly do we have to do to make this thing successful? There simply has to be some alignment with our leadership and our boosters. Clearly this is not going to work when things are pulling in opposite directions. How Steven Leath was able operate in a silo in the ways that he did is incomprehensible and cannot be allowed to happen again. Allen Greene seemed to go a little rogue on the Harsin hire and he paid the price for it. Do I think we should run all decisions by Jimmy Rane and the like? No. But surely there is a way for SOMEONE in this structure to build a vision, gain buy-in from all parties and own the execution of the plan. Where is the leadership at Auburn?!?!

Until we get on the same page, it doesn't matter who you bring in to coach. Its analogous to our QB situation this year. You can put TJ, Robbie, Calzada-- whoever you want back there. But thats not gonna change the fact that we have horrible OL and no playmakers at WR. You gotta fix the foundation before you put all the expectations on one person to be the savior. And our foundation is shaky, at best.

Step 1: Alignment of leadership. Build a plan. This can be done quickly, certainly before December.
Step 2: Fire Harsin

I truly think if we don't do this in that order, we set ourselves up for recurring failure and we become Tennessee, if we're not already. If we fire Harsin without some level of organization and strategy across all those with power, this is going to end poorly.
