We got to see a good portion of the early part of practice today. Probably the longest viewing period we've had in a while. Here are some observations. Keep in mind, these come from one part of practice and it's the first day of spring...
** The viewing period ended with pace in which the offense ran three different groups down the field. The first group was: QB Malik Willis, RB Kam Martin, HB Chandler Cox, WR Darius Slayton, WR Ryan Davis, WR Nate Craig-Myers, LT Prince Tega Wanogho, LG Marquel Harrell, C Kaleb Kim, RG Mike Horton, RT Calvin Ashley. RB Asa Martin rotated in with the 1st group the second time down the field.
** 2nd group: QB Joey Gatewood, RB Devan Barrett, HB Spencer Nigh, WR Shedrick Jackson, WR Marquis McClain, WR Eli Stove, LT Bailey Sharp, LG Brodarious Hamm, C Nick Brahms, RG Tyler Carr, RT Austin Troxell.
** What I could see of the 3rd group: QB Devin Adams, RB C.J. Tolbert, WR Pace Ozmint, WR Griffin King, LT Trent Kelley, LG Phelps Gambill, C Tucker Brown, RG Ryan Meneely, RT Prince Michael Sammons.
** Here's how the defense lined up in an early drill: DE Marlon Davidson, DT Dontavius Russell, DT Derrick Brown, BUCK T.D. Moultry, LB Deshaun Davis, LB Darrell Williams, NICK Jordyn Peters, CB Jamel Dean, CB Javaris Davis, S Jeremiah Dinson, S Daniel Thomas.
** 2nd team D: DE Nick Coe, DT Tyrone Truesdell, DT Andrew Williams, BUCK Big Kat Bryant, LB Montavious Atkinson, LB K.J. Britt, NICK Devin Guice, CB Noah Igbinoghene, CB Christian Tutt, S Smoke Monday, S Jamien Sherwood.
** Players in orange (non-contact) jerseys Thursday: All the QB's, WR Ryan Davis, DL Daquan Newkirk (on scooter), LB Josh Marsh, LB Barrett Tindall, OL Trent Kelley.
** We got spring rosters today but they're not expecting to update the weights until the end of spring so no new info yet.
** DB Cordale Flatt, who Jeffrey wrote a story on this morning, was at today's practice.
