What a whirlwind, Bunk! Here’s the timeline.
Everyone is healthy and well! Our OB didn’t make it in time, and the attending OB barely had time to put her gloves on to catch the child.
I think the time from admission to birth (4 minutes) was a hospital record.
This kid was almost born on the elevator. Glad we didn’t take the stairs (suck it, Harsin).
- 4:15am: wife starts having more painful contractions 7-8 minutes apart.
- 4:30am: our 2.5 year old son comes to our bed and says his tummy hurts, then he vomits in our bed.
- 4:55am: contractions are 5-6 minutes apart, so we call the in-laws for help with the toddler, and the OB/Gyn to alert her.
- 5am: water breaks
- (I scramble to load the car and - long story short - have to reinstall the car seat for our toddler)
- 5:15am: roll up to the emergency room.
- 5:19am: admitted to labor and delivery.
- 5:23am: baby boy #2 was born.
