I logged into twitch, because occasionally they give free items for games I play. When I do this, I am always interested in who twitch recommends me to watch, being that I am not on there enough to have recommendations.
Anyway, clicked on a streamer, and noticed their top sub-gifter this month has gifted 2,000 subs. For you non-nerds that have never been on twitch, a gifted sub costs $5, so in a month this person has paid $10,000 to someone who probably does not care at all about them.
But the 2nd highest sub-gifter has gifted 1,500, or $7,500 worth.
One, as a Bunker pore, I don't have this kind of disposable income, but two, I can imagine much better things to spend it on than giving subscriptions to random people, and paying it to a random person on the internet. I would think for $10,000 you could find someone who will let you do a lot more than just watch them talk on camera.
