I guess he did not want to deal with the FSU hate for not getting them in the playoff OR he know he is in a crappy conference and is getting out now.

Report: Florida State Redshirt Freshman Quarterback To Enter NCAA Transfer Portal

The 30-day NCAA Transfer Portal window will open on Monday, December 4. Throughout the last week, players around the country have been announcing their intentions to explore their options elsewhere.

On Sunday, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Florida State was losing redshirt freshman quarterback AJ Duffy to the portal. Duffy will retain immediate eligibility and has three years remaining to play.

During his two years with the Seminoles, Duffy spent his time as a reserve. He saw sparse playing time, only appearing in four total games while completing 2/7 passes for 26 yards with one touchdown and rushing four times for ten yards. His lone action in 2023 came in the home-opening win over Southern Miss. Duffy was a Seminole Scholar and ACC Honor Roll member.

Duffy is the first member of the team to move on during the postseason. It's unclear if he plans to remain with the Seminoles through the Orange Bowl contest against Georgia or immediately part ways to look for a new program. He served as FSU's primary backup in the ACC Championship victory over Louisville with Tate Rodemaker sidelined due to concussion protocol.

The California native originally signed with the Seminoles as a four-star prospect in the 2022 class following a stint at IMG Academy. Duffy is the fourth member (Sam McCall, Bishop Thomas, Antavious Woody) of the class to move on from Tallahassee.
