Where have you gone, Joe Dimag, er, Jermaine Whitehead??....

For those interested in playoff picture
- WHAT A WIN!!! One the biggest wins to-date for any team this season.
- Nothing has really changed: If we win out, we have a 97-100% chance of making the playoffs... even if we don't go to Atlanta.
- There are 22 teams truly eligible for the playoffs at this point, IMO. 12 of these teams will play each other this weekend. The picture will be a little clearer on Sunday... or muddier than ever. We will have to take care of business against a TAMU team that can definitely win this Saturday.
- If we have two losses, the odds are against us making the playoffs, but not astronomical. We'd need 5-7 somewhat odd things to happen to get in with two losses... not 20 things.

Offensive notes
- The new 5-man OL, the unit that has now started together for four straight games, was the biggest factor in our outburst against a very good defensive team. I'm hedging that this unit will make some noise down the stretch (somewhat unexpectedly... like last year??)
- Marshall played one of his best games in an AU uniform.
- CAP looks like a different back from three weeks ago... the continuity of the OL helping tremendously.
- Tunsil (Ole Miss LT) missing the game was very fortunate for us. The guy they moved to LT (#74 Cooper) was probably the worst offensive lineman we've faced all season. This includes the five we face in a few weeks when Samford comes to town.

Defensive notes
- Replay told a slightly different story with our secondary.
- As I watched live, I thought Ford (and our Safety position) was having a VERY rough game. And that Mincy wasn't playing well, either. After watching the replay, Ford did play the worst game in his young career, but Mincy had an absolutely horrendous game (think: Chris Davis vs FSU).
- We gave up 14 plays of 15+ yards. 7 were directly attributable to Mincy (in Man, it's easier to dissect direct responsibilities).
- Ford was responsible for just 2 of those 14 big plays. His two plays obviously stood out. (1) He, along with Cass, took bad angles and allowed an undersized TE to score a 50-yd TD on a short pass. (2) He totally whiffed on a tackle that turned an 8-yard gain into 34. He made some good plays but there were 3-4 glaring mistakes.
- Mincy was bad all night... no matter the WR. Again, half of Ole Miss' big plays were vs his man (Jon Jones gave up zero big plays on the other side).

- With that, I don't think it's cause for concern at this point. It's fixable because it's veteran players making the mistakes over the past couple games. Mincy has been very solid all season. He locked-down his side vs FSU in January. He's been very good in games played in 2014... until Saturday.
- Ford is a first-year starter who has played all season like a future all-conference Safety. He had 3-4 really bad plays. It happens.
- Cass played well for most of the game, especially in the box and with his effort. But his bad angles yielded some big gainers that were not noticeable at first blush.

- Three of our better players (Mincy/Ford/Cass) contributed to most every big play that Ole Miss had. Against South Carolina, it was Therezie and, to a lesser degree, Holsey (two other solid, veteran players). That's why it may be premature to be too concerned with our back-7 at this point in the season. Still much more concerend going forward with a lack of a traditional pass rush.
- Although, I am really beginning to think that Whitehead told Coach Cheese that his mother was a hamster and his father smelt of elderberries. That, or he predicted weeks ago that Dylan Thompson and Bo Wallace would throw for 800 yards against our secondary and vocalized it. Either way, if he were truly back (which probably isn't going to happen), I'd feel better about our defense.

- Kris Frost played one of his better games. We have a very good LB combo in Frost/Cass. The best part of our D all season.
- Angelo Blackson was a difference maker.
- Jonathan Jones played solidly on the Field side and has steadily become a very solid CB.
- Monty Adams continued to play well.

Spurrier notes
- He'll probably lose to Tenn, but will beat Clemson. There are certain games he gets amped for and some that he just quits (oops... this note is from last week).
