Butch Thompson is previewing this weekend's series against Tennessee. Here's a summary...
** Putting all of our pitchers together this weekend. Dylan Watts will start tomorrow. He can throw two times per weekend. Other starters are TBA. Going to take a different approach and perhaps use 5-6 guys and find a recipe for this staff. Don't want guys to have the pressure of having to go through a lineup 2-3 times.
** Thompson's goal is for Watts to get through that first inning. Could go 2-3 innings or maybe more. If he only goes 2-3, could come back Sunday.
** Awesome to be back home next two weekend. Going to try to scratch and claw and get back into this thing. Looking forward to an exciting A-Day weekend.
** Need to get Tanner Bauman going again. It makes it more challenging if he can't give us 3-4 innings on a weekend.
** Chase Allsup could still start this weekend, Joseph Gonzalez too. But maybe they would be better coming in later in a game without as much pressure on them.
** Want to see somebody step up from this pitching staff and do something amazing. This is how we found Tommy Vail last year at Florida. It's an opportunity.
** Pretty committed to Eric Guevara at 3B (started against UAB for first time). Will see how he feels today and bounces back at practice. Can he play everyday yet or does he need a day off.
** Cade Belyeu was a spark last night. He's got a big bat and starting to do more damage. He's earned more going forward. Future is now for Guevara and Belyeu.
