What did Harsin do after an horrible iron bowl loss? One that I am still kind of not over tbh. He canned his OC, and later parted ways with his DC. What did that accomplish for Auburn? Was that the solution to the issues of the 2021 season?
Now I'm not stating you don't fire these guys simply because it would be the opposite of what Harsin did. You also don't fire them because it would hurt recruiting. Auburn has some big time commits right now, and they committed to these coordinators. Auburn has some big time targets too, and they're hot on Auburn to come play for the coaches Auburn already has got. Firing either one can seriously damage our odds here.
And finally, does anyone have any doubt Auburn wins that game with good receivers and pass rushers? Not suggesting there were zero bad play calls... but I am still mostly impressed by these coaches. They ain't working with shit. Auburn's defense is 4th in the SEC in scoring. That's seriously incredible, given that it is the least talented defense Auburn has had in a long time.
With good receivers, that offense goes from one dimensional to two. It's impressive how well the offense did, considering the receiving corp did nothing outside of catches passes when they were completely wide open.
This is year one. If the defense was like last in the SEC or something, then someone should probably be canned. But that just isn't the case, not even close. Whole staff deserves finishing this recruiting class and then year 2.
