Why have we pretty much struck out with the 5 star recruits on our team?
I am not saying they aren't doing OK but when I see other teams 5 star recruits they are real studs.
1. Monty Adams. He is starting to live up to his billing and seems to me to be the one shinning 5 star on our team.
2. Carl Lawson. OK, we all know he COULD be excellent, but injuries are keeping him from being that player we all think he is. Not his fault but still he doesn't help us on the bench.
3. S. Coleman. He is starting to come around somewhat. We all know his sickness history but has he performed anywhere near a 5 star level? I don't think so. I'm not even sure you would call it a 4 star level? Others might be able to judge that better than me.
4. Roc. At this point he might be 3rd string and has not shown anything close to a 5 star player. Compare him to Yeldon, Fournette and others at this point and there is no contest.
5. Tre Williams. No body even talks about him much. He seems to be doing OK but might not even be a starter.
Are we so good at LB he can't even start?
6. Duke. OK, we all know he is talented but if we are looking at results then we have to ask where has he been so far this year? Maybe the trouble he got into put too much of a divide between him and JJ. Still I must give him the benefit of the doubt that he will come on strong for the rest of the season.
7. Byron Cowart. This one really confuses me. Now that he is a part of Auburn's team I start reading how he isn't really fast twitch like Lawson and he hasn't quite caught on. Damn, you would think the #1 frickin player could find a spot on this obviously under achieving team!
8. Jovon. Well here is another 5 star that seems, SO FAR, to be behind Barber and I have yet to see anything that made me get excited. Still, very small sample size so I give him a pass.
Why do other teams' 5 star recruits start as freshmen and have the announcers raving about them?
Why do other team's 5 star recruits show exciting and game changing plays during their games and ours are "still learning" the system?
I would say out of our eight 5 star recruits we have gotten about as low of grade out of the group as the odds will allow.
OK, fire away. I can't wait to read how these guys are really doing better than I think and how stupid I am.
