Perhaps you missed President Trump deciding to finally end this war last summer and President Biden following through with the troop removal.
I understand that we've been selectively making air strikes but air strikes alone won't win a war, especially when the ground troops don't want to fight - at all, evidently.
What is the point? They have been there for 1,000 years and will be there another 1,000. The mission should have been kill Bin Ladin and GTFO. Pretending a western style democracy could take hold over there was a fools errand sponsored by the Military Industrial Complex.
We could, but then what? What’s the end goal? How many more American lives do you want to commit to defend a place that after twenty years, still isn’t willing and/or capable to fight for itself?

And for those of us who relish our "Team America - World Police" role, I'm quite sure as I type this TPTB are identifying our next poor but strategically located, at least in theory, country to toss around a fortune in missiles and manpower. It's what we do.
Trump made that clear when we had troops in country. He never promised to "return" to kick ass. Trump and every other President before him knew exactly what would happen as soon as we left.
OK ... so you're telling me President Trump entered into a cease fire agreement with the Taliban in which he announced the withdrawal of ALL US troops, but also said "if you ever start open warfare again, we're going to bring all of these troops right back"?

I know it won't happen, but we need to enforce our borders and get serious about who we allow to enter the country. Couple that with staying out of military conflicts in other countries and maybe we can save ourselves a ton of $$$ and loss of life. Pipe dream, I know.
This is 100% correct. Any “war” that does not allow the military to kill em all and go home is a fools errand and only happens to benefit the Industrial Military Complex.

Alright, couple things here. We could degrade their ability and make it harder, you got that right. But, I don’t think you realize how pervasive the taliban are in Afghanistan. At this point, they’re spread out across the country and major cities. I’m not quite sure what you mean by “full arsenal” but air strikes alone aren’t going to “end them.” Don’t get me wrong, you’d kill a whole lot of those fvckers, but you’ll also be killing civilians, which I’m not cool with. All that’s besides the point, an air campaign would necessitate support in country, which means Americans would be at risk. There would be more casualties, it’s naive to think otherwise.

This. I understand people have the feels about women and children over there but they don't understand it's basically an alien race we're dealing with. Much like China.
