A 75 year old woman was recently sentenced for repeatedly sexually abusing a 14 year old boy as a 67 yo teacher. She was eligible for 600 years in prison plus hundreds more under supervision upon release. Lead prosecutor asked for 100 in prison then 60 supervised. Wisconsin DOC rec'd 24-32, followed by 20-24 supervised. She got 10 years in prison, 15 supervised release. The state also asked for pre-sentence detention, but she was free on bail.
Can someone explain why this monster should ever spend another day outside of prison? Why the double standard in sentencing for female perpetrators of sexual assault? Why boys are (often, not always) not protected from these predators in the same way as girls?
Is it too much to ask that all children be protected, and that the law be applied to all abusers equally?
