Here are my thoughts...
Because football has changed and no one can. If any team is setup to hold a lead it is bammer. Off the top of my head they blew a 24 point lead to us in 2010, a 14 point lead to us in 2013 and were up 21-6 vs Ohio State. I chose bammer because of the defensive mentality of Saban and I could come up with 3 major blown leads off the top of my head. There are many others.
Patrick Peterson types are no longer lockdown corners....they play QB (Nick Marshall for example) and excel at breaking defenses down in a hurry while also faltering on several drives in a row if the o falls behind the chains. Due to the hurry up nature of Os this gives opposing Os quick possessions and potentially quick scores. Therefore no lead is safe and on the other hand no lead is insurmountable.
Defense in 2015 is about key stops not shutouts.
