try to change the current unfair money that is awarded to baseball players that AU, Bama, & USA are not able to offer. College baseball has really grown over the last 10 years and better facilities continue to grow especially at SEC schools. I believe the NCAA only allows a baseball team to give 13 athletic scholarships and that is no longer working. AU is fighting an uphill battle because they are not able to offer what the other teams can. For different reasons such as lottery funding scholarships, Vanderbilt offers 20 academic scholarships plus 13 athletic ones. Vandy takes in their share of the SEC money each year but spends very little on football and has lots of money to spend on the smaller sports that don't carry the high dollars to be relevant in football. Somebody said the other day that LSU signed a player out of Alabama & he was able to get a full scholarship plus additional funds for them to spend on other things. Alabama doesn't waive out-of-state tuition like other states.
Basketball 13 scholarships and must teams play about 9
Baseball 13 I'm assuming you need about 25 so no one has an advantage.
This board complains about coaching and facilities and in my opinion if you cannot offer the same amount to fund kids' education while playing baseball you will always you will continue to valleys and peaks.
Can Coach Tuberville at least help with the state issues.
