Why didn’t Desantis get a bounce from announcing he’s officially running?

Not only that, his approval ratings are tanking and he lost a ton of ground since last Nov/Dec when he started his book tour and easily won re-election in FL. He’s now down 33 points on avg. Can he come back or is this another dud like Jeb, Fred Thompson, Rudy G, Scott Walker, etc?
