Personally, I've been watching and rooting on Auburn football since I remember. I personally think we have a great chance at beating Georgia this Saturday with a good game plan and a raucous crowd at Jordan-Hare this Saturday Night! The best part of the 3 team gauntlet is we get the other 2 at HOME. I was at Penn State - when we were literally 1 play away from a WIN there .... and they're currently ranked #3 / #4... WE CAN BEAT GEORGIA AND ALABAMA. It'll be a fun, great environment - but I bet we do!
A victory like 2 weeks ago - having to make a play to stop and beat Georgia State, and WE DID. The next week, to go on the road and polish off a team, that albeit isn't a Top Caliber Team, however, is still littered with NFL Talent and WIN against a 3-team combo we never won against on the Road under the previous regime unless it was 2013.. If people remember correctly, these recruits - some like Broadarius Hamm, Austin Troxell, TD Moultry and Colby Wooden were members of the 2015-16 classes.. they've got some experience under their belt. A couple dealt with injuries and personal issues, a couple with a much more serious illness - however, that gives us 2 on both sides of the ball that have been around for 5-6 years. ALSO - Auburn's last 3 classes per 24/7 composite and/or rivals came out somewhere like 2018 #9 class, 2019 #10 class and 2020 #7 class as far as recruiting is concerned. Now you have a head coach that can coach up the 5 STAR that is Bo Nix - you can already see his mechanics improving inside the pocket - and 'hello route tree and route combo's finally'... wtf was the previous dude doing?... I think we're all at the same spot - we don't know and at this point, who cares. The point being is we definately not only have the talent and team commraderry to compete against Georgia this weekend and Alabama later in the year - We've got an ample shot at WINNING both games.
.... so here we are 5 games into the season and you've got a team that's 4-1 and is growing up before your very eyes - before their very eyes... because this growth would have never happened if we didn't make a move to go get this Head Coach and some of his guys to bring in an amoeba type philosophy. Like one of my good friends said, Coach Harsin is very 'Saban-like' on the sidelines, except our coach has more intelligence and class and is not going to lose it on a player or assistant because they didn't make the right read on a 3rd & 5 mid-way through the 3rd Quarter of a game we're leading 52-10. Coach Harsin embodies what Kirby Smart, Gus Malzahn, Dan Mullen and countless others have the problem of doing - that's getting too HIGH and too LOW and letting your team see that and play like that. THAT'S why we would drop games we shouldn't and never show up on the road - because there was no calmness to these coaches - which is why I don't see Georgia winning the National Championship this year OR this coming weekend inside the friendly confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium. My point being that Coach Harsin carries a quite confidence in him and his mannerisms never change. As Jay G. Tate accurately assessed, Coach Harsin believes in putting in the work AND preparation - both mental and physical - before hand so it's just 'rinse and repeat' once it becomes Game Time.
So, we're 4-1 and don't have a lot of people looking at us... yet.. because we 'lost our only big game' in the media's eyes at #4 Penn State / No - We Grew Up. And the following week, when the team was pushed to the limit by a good Georgia State team, we found a way to win. That trait - learing how to win in different ways - is the antithetous of College Athletics right there. Then, to take that close, Team Win on the Road to Baton Rouge, playing against an ample opponent with plenty of 4 & 5-stars littering the field just like Georgia and Alabama - and find a way to win down 2 scores - you've tapped into something special.
....AND what you see now, you've got a team that's found different ways to WIN. That's a dangerous team right there - and I believe Auburn is about to reel off a few WINS, if not every game we play for the rest of the season. A team brimming with confidence is not a team that you want to play after pulling off 2 come from behind, late-4th quarter victories. So, just remember when Kirby's got his hired hand that holds his belt loop while he's loosing his rabid ass mind on the sideline, that our Team is emulating our Coach - and that's calm, cool and collected. Georgia's a team that's media darlings right now and something Jesse "The Bachelor" Palmer and his roses falls right in line for - they think that Georgia's gonna come into Jordan-Hare and Auburn 'doesn't have a chance'... Sound familiar? I predict a Victory this weekend and also one the last game of the year! War Damn Eagle!!
