- QB finally progressing, not regressing Gussy style, evidenced by Nix being a major factor in two big road wins which had been a big problem to date;
- Offensive game plans appear to actually drive off of not just what the opponent’s defensive weaknesses are, but also our own personnel limitations. That’s a big deal and NEW to the scene from the prior regime. I thought the only plan Sat after all our WR drops was run heavy, but Bobo and Hars knew that Barry Odom would sell out to stop the run, and we came out sharp with a short passing game, and caught Arky flat footed. And those quick release passes set up the TD throws to JJ and D-Rob. One way to improve red zone scoring is to bypass it
- I am blissfully BLINDED by the glorious sight of big TEs blocking and then out in routes as mismatches. A big, stronger body like that is hard for a DB to get around and swat the ball away. We’ve seen more intelligent use of the TE in just 7 games than in all the prior 8 years;
- Play design is at times FILTHY, as Jay G and others have outlined. Work in progress making plays the design sets up, but you saw the fruition therein on Saturday;
- Play CALLING is also at times brilliant. The deep shot coming out of the 4th and 3 stop was a dagger, and you could tell Bobo and Hars had worked with Bo to get the ball out with loft to let D-Rob go get it;
- Our offensive identity is taking shape, a mere 7 games into the Hars process to “coach the Gus out of this team”. We play physical and big with the use of TEs to compliment our RB strength and OL limitations.
- Bobo and Hars have tactics they’ve set up for big games remaining, and the open date allows even more refining of play design, not just for Ole Mrs as scoring will come in bunches on the Land Sharks;
What I’d love to better understand is how and to what extent this is a “hybrid” Harsin and Bobo offense (and not 95% Bobo). Because that could make it hard to game plan AU the remaining games.
What say ye?
