I hate it, don't like it, & I know that we had their ass in JH 2 weeks ago. As much as I don't like it, after looking @ all the committees reasons, they should be in.
Should the SEC Champion be in? Yes, based on the BCS & CFP history. (Sorry if these stats have already been posted) In 25 years of a head to head championship games, the SEC has won 15, 60% of those championship years. Collectively, the B10, B12, & P12 have won 5, 20%. The ACC has won 5, 20%. 6 schools in the SEC have won championships, only 7 in the other 4 power 5 conferences combined.
Records say the SEC is the dominate conference & a joke to leave it's champion out.

The committee also made the correct choice based on their 5 criteria.
  • #5--"Other relevant factors, such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or will likely affect its postseason performance"
One example of one player making a difference: The 1960 Iron Bowl was a 3-0 win by al. We were ranked 8th with 1 loss to TN while al was ranked 17th with one loss to TN. Ed Dyas, who was a great FB for Auburn that year, also kicked xtra pts & FG's, The previous week against Fl State, he was tackled out of bounds & pushed into the Auburn bench fracturing his cheek bone. He was ruled ineligible to play against al. We shut al down inside our 40 with the exception of the one time they kicked a FG. We had opportunities to kick multiple FGs but didn't have a good backup kicker. Ed had won a couple games that year kicking.

The sad thing is that next year or sometime is the future, we'll be hurting for the 13th ranked team. No system is perfect.
