When Lawson and Matthews were on the field the defense had some serious leadership on the field and it showed as we were playing with passion on that side of the ball. Mckenzie and Adams are playing well but they appear to be quite kids and not natural born leaders but they need to come out of their shell and lead these young kids and help them elevate their game.
On Offense in the past we had great leadership with Marshall and Mason and guys on the OL. This year our players at the normal leadership positions are quite kids like Jeremy, Coleman and a few others. We need some guys to step up and take this team by the horns and say follow me. Peyton Barber looks like the only kid out there playing all out and trying to physically dominate the opposition.
I hope Jeremy can turn it around like Patrick Nix did back in the day. Patrick was a 4th year junior when he started and his first two games he looked like a high school qb at best but then the lights came on against Miss State on the road and he went on to have a nice career and became a great leader.
You have to play this game with passion if you want to be great, especially if you are in the SEC.
