How many times have we heard, from many posters on this board and elsewhere, that we will NEVER be able to recruit with the bammers, thugas, tOSU, etc. That we should go after the guys that they don't( they're still good players, don't get me wrong) because they can't take everybody.
Hugh is showing EVERYBODY what many of us have known for a long time, that AU is a sleeping giant! We are a top 15 program of all time. One of the best and beautiful campus, fantastic and fanatic fan base, and really rich boosters. We have been our own worst enemy and it's not been the bammers or others keeping us down(well, yes them a bit), but what we've always needed and finally have is a level playing field and a unified football program.
We've had flashes of success...Dye, Tuberville, Chizik, and even Gus in his first few years. But each of those(with the exception of maybe Dye) had to deal with fractured factions behind the scenes. This put a strain and a lot of stress on coaching staffs, administrative staffs, etc. Too many people wanted to exert their influence and dominance. Caused us to be schizophrenic and inconsistent.
Now HBCHF has come in and has all his staff and admin under control and pulling in the same direction and it looks like Rane has the boosters under control and pulling in the same direction. This is what Auburn is capable of.
Ultimately Hugh needs to show consistent success, which I don't just believe he will, I KNOW he will. With that we are about to see us go to a level that has always been the potential of Auburn and is now about to be realized.
Gone will be the days of JABA or that we can't compete!!
