What does Auburn have to do to pass Alabama as the best team in the state?

Is it possible?

Get better players and coaches.

Stop firing coaches who win championships... You people are running out of candidates.

No one wants to coach at a traditionally mediocre program that is held to an artificially high standard.

REALITY

AU will never = Bama in football

Bama will never = MIT in quantum physics

I can accept the reality of our situation... You people should accept yours .

Let’s just say what most people think about the University of Alabama. Its football pursuits justify its identity with an uneducated backward white population and a symbolic link to the Lost Cause they hold so dear. Much in the same way as D.W. Griffith’s movie The Birth of a Nation encouraged the worst elements of southern society a hundred years ago; Bama football still encourages a similar backward behavior from a large segment of its fan base today. The Crimson Tide football team is an outlet for their lunatic fringe fans and gives them a venue to be recognized.

Bama fans overestimate the “esteem” of being the last college football factory and unwittingly rob themselves of the very reverence they crave by their boorish and obsessive behavior. They defend the indefensible and deny the undeniable. Their unhealthy emotional stake in Bama football substitutes for their own lack of personal acknowledgement and respect. They have become avatars of the worst behavior and bear witness to a complicated legacy of an earlier segregated society.

The question is: has Chronic Encephalopathy (CTE) not only affected ex-football players but also metaphorically speaking an entire university and its fan base? These other football victims are driven by extreme emotion and delusions to commit unconscionable often violent actions (Harvey Updyke and others). Even Nick Saban contributes to the lunacy by comparing losing a football game to the Pearl Harbor and 911 tragedies when thousands of Americans lost their lives.

Similar to the victims of CTE, the University of Alabama’s misplaced priorities of gold-plated football fluff over economic substance harms the state’s citizens with the false bravado of football. History reveals that the holy crusade of Bama football acts as an impediment to social and economic progress. For instance the University of Alabama administration allows white-only sororities to continue their policy of banning African-American females from membership. Ironic that most of the precocious Bama “student athletes” are African-American but their daughters and sisters can be excluded from university sororities.

It is well known that when a university simply reflects the attitudes of its football fans it is no longer a university in the true meaning of the word. Football has stalled the University of Alabama’s transformation into a modern university with intellectual, aesthetic or humanistic concerns. The reality is that the NCAA would actually do the University of Alabama a favor by handing down the Death Penalty for its football team. Then perhaps finally its faculty, alumni and students might appreciate the scholarship and learning that mark a university with intellectual fiber and integrity.

Until then “roll tide” is the shameful apology for those either naive or without individual self-respect.

I hope you didn't invest much of your day composing that diatribe.

Maybe you could consider answering the OP's question instead of complaining about how college football isn't fair.

That clown has been posting that same recycled garbage for years. I've found that it's usually the fans of trash programs that are always complaining about their victimhood.

Hey Harvey Updyke here are three reasons why UAT is so successful at football: 1) UAT has an unlimited football budget and spends more money than any other SEC member on gold plated over the top gaudy football facilities 2) no university admissions office "interference" (also Bama is one of only three SEC schools, along with Ole Miss and MS State that accepts Ds on high school and junior college transcripts and 3) most importantly Saban has no oversight from the UAT administration, a UAT head football coach answers to no one. In essence UAT is a football team masquerading as a university. Also over the years UAT's football success degenerated to became a substitute for its fans own lack of self esteem highlighted by a neuroses of persecution. Football is the be all and end all at UAT and Auburn will never incarnate these flaws as well as UAT.

You are right about one thing since the bear Bryant days. Auburn will never equal Bama in football Because AUBURN LEADS the bammers 18 to 16 , has more undeafeted seasons 3 to 2 . Both have 7 sec champs and Auburn leads 15 to 7 in Auburn and Tuscaloosa .

So auburn could go 1-11 with a win against Bama, Bama could go 13-1 with a loss to auburn, and auburn would be the best team in the state?

The question didn't say best program it said best team. Yes, we win the Iron bowl, we have a year of bragging rights.

To be the best program....that may be impossible in my lifetime.

You need more secret donors and more efficient bagmen $$$$$$$$$$$$&$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$&$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.... last 11 yrs...dawgs 9,.....y'all 2, Bama just got their 3rd 5 ***** tackle for 2017, it's called lock n load..till Satan leaves or retires, get used to being the whipping boy, pray for Bama to win the natty, then Texas comes in with a $$$100 million dollar contract, then he's gone..pray. That's because "your" (Alabama's) culture isn't built around intellectual achievement so the second equation doesn't matter to you.

Close the door on 2017. This is Post of the Year.

Why were there so many bammers in this thread? Why would they feel the need to defend themselves to rival fans? @Pops Masterson @billywaynebammer @Bama_Gator

I'll never understand the need to feel vindicated by opposing fans or to attempt to talk down to them. I find it funny that a man that spends time on a rivals message board relates himself to Ruth Chris Steak House. Your obsession is silly and your need for vindication through a football team that you have no affiliation with is even sillier.
