This morning after turning it off at the end of the 3rd yesterday. If anything I'm even more shocked today. I don't believe we have enough data to make any kind of conclusion about Freeze, but there is plenty to now to say that 70-80% of our 2-deep needs to either be shown the portal or encouraged to quit. There are many glaring signs yesterday that winning culture and player leadership in this program is absent. I've decided to write an article open letter for @Will Collier complete with a terribly formatted list of the all the awful things on display. You're welcome.
- Pride? Where was it? Usually if you struggle in a first half against a nobody like NMS (and yes they are a literal fvcking Who) you come out in the second with some attitude and punch back. We came out ready to leave and go home. And in our own stadium no less. Why is their QB throwing your bro down on the ground at your sideline and not get swarmed? Yikes. Props to Faulk for actually doing something but damn what an embarrassment.
- Effort? Yea this has been harped on over and over but it's accurate. There were about 5 starters that actually cared. Efforting grade is at a negative.
- Quitters. Yea they quit. You had seniors out there very plainly 'quit quitting' on the field. This could be under Pride but it's everything. Leadership, Pride, Discipline. Marcus Harris has had a great season but where was he? When times are tough that's when guys like him are needed most to reverse it on the field. Take over the game. Take over the sideline. He was invisible, hope he has a great career in the NFL.
- Coaches. I mean..... We hired a has-been to run the offense. I'm not talking about Hugh, although I'm not on team let him call plays. Monty should never have been here. Robert's defense was an embarrassment, but it's suffering from an acute lack of alphas, so I'm not sure what he's supposed to do about that up in the box. I mean for fvcks sake he has a Vanderbilt DE as his leader. McCallister's best pass rush move is to lay on top of the tackle and reach over. Your leader needs to be someone that's actually good not a scholar. I'm sure he's a nice guy.
Freeze has been killing it in recruiting. That really should be a main takeaway from this season. Sadly his culture building really hasn't shown anything yet. Picking guys from the portal to come be your leaders seems like a sketchy idea at best and it's backfired on him. Payton spends half the game looking sad. I guess that's what Auburn fans wanted considering we had people crying on here about Bo Nix chewing his teammates out for lack of effort and discipline. But anyway he sucks and is probably a failure wherever he's at now.
