Went 3-4 last weekend. Back to .500 on the predictions at 14-14. Vandy losing their series was a big surprise, especially considering their two losses weren't even close to being competitive.
Week 4
Bama at Texas A&M (2-1): Way wrong
Arkansas (2-1) at Ole Miss: Didn't play out like I thought with Sunday being an 18-14 final
Miss St at Auburn (2-1): Yeah, I'm not picking Auburn to win a series again this year
Florida at Tennessee (2-1): UT had a chance to sweep that series
UGA at Vandy (3-0): Way wrong. UGA pounded Rocker Friday night.
LSU at Kentucky (2-1): Shouldn't have picked against LSU with their backs to the wall
Missouri at South Carolina (2-1): about what I figured this series would be
Week 5
Auburn at Bama (3-0): Until we see consistency from Auburn, not sure how I can pick them to win games. I think they should win a game and have a chance to win the series, but Greenhill and Owen couldn't follow up their great starts at Arkansas with more quality against State and the rest of the staff didn't have it. Bama gets back their ace this weekend, Connor Prielipp, to start on Saturday, which is a big boost to them because it sets up their bullpen a lot better. Their offense is hot right now. If we play well, it should be a good series, and maybe us being the visitors and getting the first at bat will help us out like it has in previous road series.
South Carolina at LSU (2-1): LSU got back on track at UK and looks to continue that at home. Both of these teams are offensively driven. SCar has the deeper pitching staff, but I'm going with the voodoo in the Box and their offense to win this series.
Kentucky (2-1) at Georgia: Going a bit against the grain here. UK is coming off a tough series loss at home. UGA is riding high after a massive road series win at #1 Vandy. Thinking UK plays better than they did last weekend and that UGA falls flat after the Vandy series. Could see this series going either way, but I'm leaning towards UK being a little hungrier here.
Mizzou at Florida (2-1): Mizzou seems to be improving as the weather warms up. They took the first game from South Carolina this weekend. I think they'll find a way to take a game from UF, but overall, I think Florida wins this series comfortably. Something to watch in this series is the UF starting rotation. Sully has mixed things up over the last two weekends and threw Jack Leftwich (one of their aces coming into the season) in relief against Tennessee and in the midweek. The starting rotation has been up and down, and I'm not sure Sully has still found the combination he likes. Auburn plays Florida next weekend. So who they throw and what is used in the bullpen might have some impact on our series.
Vanderbilt (2-1) at Tennessee: This should be a great series between two top 5 teams. UT is a scrappy, feisty, veteran team that just finds ways to win. Not overpowering at the plate or on the mound, they just make plays and take advantage of opportunities. Vandy is probably chomping at the bit to get back on the field after Rocker's poor start against UGA. Still think Vandy has the edge in this series because they have Rocker and Leiter and the best offense in the league, but they don't seem quite as invincible as they did a couple weeks ago.
Ole Miss at Miss State (2-1): Best series of the weekend IMO. The Dude will have 20,000 people there if they can figure out a way to get them all in. Ole Miss is reeling a bit after dropping two straight series to UF and Arkansas. They really need a series win. They have the advantage in starting pitching with Hoglund and Nikhazy, but State just seems to be able to offer more quality and variety out of the bullpen. Ole Miss has the offensive edge, even without Elko, but Miss State might've found themselves after their weekend in Auburn. Should be a lot of fun in a huge rivalry series. No idea what's going to happen here. So, I'll lean on the home team with the better closer to pull out the series win.
Texas A&M at Arkansas (3-0): aTm is in a similar boat as Auburn. Just not very good and not very consistent. Arkansas has arms and offense and defense. They're about as complete a team as any in college baseball. If there's one weakness to Arkansas, it's their starting pitching. And if aTm wants any chance in this series, they have to get to one of Arky's starters early and get out to a big lead and hold on. Just don't see it happening though.
