Here are some highlights. I spoke with Marcus Woodson, Rodney Garner, JB Grimes, Travis Williams and Cadillac Williams. I know JG, Nathan and J Lee talked to others and will have more to add soon...

** Woodson considers Roger McCreary a starter. Has really stepped up -- fast, physical, smart. He's the top backup at corner behind Javaris Davis and Noah Igbinoghene. Nehemiah Pritchett is the fourth corner. Zion Puckett is backup nickel/dime.

** Garner said T.D. Moultry is having a great camp and also stepping up as a leader. He expects him back soon from foot/ankle injury. Rodney wasn't real forthcoming on who was stepping up among the freshmen today so not a lot more to add from him.

** Grimes is really pleased with the play of his OL this fall. Feels like they can be a strong unit. Said Marquel Harrell is the vocal leader.

** Bailey Sharp and Nick Brahms are next men up on the OL. Sharp can play either tackle while Brahms can step in at center with Kaleb Kim sliding to guard.

** Grimes said Jalil Irvin was the biggest surprise from fall camp. Can play center or either guard position. We saw him with the 2nd team last practice. I mentioned this yesterday, but he likes all three freshmen OL. He said Justin Osborne is very athletic and has been well coached, playing both tackles.

** Alec Jackson is showing he has the potential to play left tackle in SEC, still has steps he needs to take.

** T-Will said he's working both KJ Britt and Chandler Wooten at Mike, wants them to compete and also have two guys he can depend on there. Owen Pappoe and Zakoby McClain are at Money.

** He talked a lot about Owen Pappoe and how serious and hard-working and, of course, talented he is. Didn't say for sure if Pappoe would start against Oregon but said he'd definitely play. Also really high on Zakoby McClain and what he brings at the position. Those are his top four guys.

** Just got to briefly talk with Cadillac. He really likes DJ Williams and what he's going to bring to the table as a backup RB this fall. He's thrilled to be at Auburn.

FROM NATE:

** Kenny Dillingham says his No. 1 priority for the season with the QBs is turnovers. Noted that as a rising coach, he was astounded by Western Michigan's 9-game run without a turnover a few years back.

** Dillingham definitely said more unprompted about Nix than Gatewood. Take that for what it's worth.

** Kodi Burns thinks the sky is the limit for Marquis McClain, but the consistency has to be there. Says he makes some of the best catches of any receiver he's seen, but he can't replicate them day-to-day.

** Burns also had more praise for Matthew Hill and his positive attitude after not receiving much playing time freshman year as a blue-chipper.

** Cadillac was all-around great to talk to, with this quote serving as the headliner: "We're (running backs) carrying the hopes and dreams of the team when we carry the ball."

FROM JAY G.

** Ryan Russell (Russelt?) singled out Jeremiah Dinson and Marlon Davidson for their work during the offseason.

** Russell divided the team into small groups this summer and let them compete in dozens of different challenges to see which team would win. Dinson's team won. Nick Coe was on that team as well. Russell didn't go any deeper into it. Russell did say the competition kept the energy going all summer long.

** Russell offered special praise for Davidson, who has reshaped his body quite a bit. He's added muscle and ditched some fat. The solution? Davidson is eating much better ... finally. Russell said he and a few NFL guys had an intervention with Davidson to explain just how important it was for him to get his body right.
