Statistically we're 2nd in the league in 3 point percentage. @ 37.7%. We'd have to hit at a 56.5% clip from 2 point range to equate to 37.7% from 3. Also, misses from 3 point range tend to bounce out more from the rim giving the offense a better opportunity for rebounds and quick kick outs. That might help with our rebounding disadvantage without Broome. Get Kelly, Pettiford, and Jones open for some 3s and that percentage could easily be higher.
Bruce mentioned how MSU is a good 3 point shooting team. They're actually average, with only their 2 guards hitting at a high rate. Play good perimeter defense on them and I doubt they hit at a high rate.
Couple of other interesting observations on SEC 3 point shooting (Link to stats below). AU has not done a good job of defending the 3, ranking near the bottom of the conference. The turds are generally known as a great 3 point shooting team, and they certainly can get hot. Statistically, they rank near the bottom of the conference in 3 point percentage. However, they shoot a full 4 more 3s than the next closest team, and almost 6 more per game than AU.
