What a mess. Public schools were out, my son goes to a private school they were in until 1:00. I was going to a lunch meeting around 11:30AM and get the call it is cancelled. Decide I better go to his school and pick him up (rather than allow him to drive in these conditions). Sign him out at 12:30 (lobby full of kids to be picked up along with some pissed off parents). We get to the parking lot, my son says "I think I can drive my car home." My response, "No, get in the car." 90+ minutes later, navigating back roads, we safely complete the 8 mile drive.
Accidents everywhere. Tates Creek a major road running downtown all the way out to the river, cars could not get up the hill. It was a parking lot. I-75 shut down. It snowed 2 inches during our ride home. We had to stop once to clear the snow off the windshield because the snow was piling up and obstructing the wipers. Should have stopped again, but was too dangerous with cars sliding all over the place. Fun times.
