Washington DC food recs?

Attending as part of a school function and looking for any local owned casual dining for lunch and dinner. Staying near the Captiol behind the Air and Space Museum. It’s been a decade or so since I’ve been there but I’m hoping the Metro is still the best way to get around town as I won’t have my own vehicle. TIA
