Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea is about to take the podium here in Nashville. Follow along for all updates.

*** Sankey again going with no tie. Also mentions he and Lea both signed contract extensions last week.

*** Lea is monotone as heck. “We will never be satisfied. We will not back down from being the best college football program in the nation.”

*** Goal this year is postseason play.

*** He’s now motivated by proving to the people on the inside of the program than outside.

*** What makes Vandy football special is the people. Seriously, he sounds like he’s a college student doing a speech in Public Speaking 101.

*** Now for questions: asked about hiring Barton Simmons, an outside of the box hire. Lea says they go way back. He likes his competitive spirit.

*** On the roster: “We can’t afford to miss.”

*** “We have to find the best 11 on both sides.” - Huge if true

*** Lea mentions the Dores have a good receiving corps that will test their inexperienced secondary during fall camp.

*** Texas guy asks about Texas because they matter when they don’t join until next season. Lea says he has a narrow scope right now.

*** Vandy has new facilities happen. In other news, I just realized I could sleep with my eyes open.

*** “We are going to build and develop from the bottom up.”

*** Defensive front is getting better. Thinks it is the most improved unit.

*** “The situation is really sad.” - On Northwestern

*** “Elijah is a first class person. I think the world of him. He has length. Glad he’s here because college football needs a guy like that.” - on Elijah McAllister

That’s all for Lea.
