** Auburn added its eighth transfer from the portal yesterday in Texas A&M's 3B/RHP Jett Johnston, who was a top 200 player and the Tennessee POY coming out of Farragut High School last year. He didn't play much for TAMU last season due to their veteran depth. He had a 27.00 ERA in just two appearances out of the bullpen, and batted .188 in just 16 at-bats.
He led Farragut to two consecutive state championships in 2022-23 batting .350 as a junior and .401 as a senior. He totaled 21 home runs and 91 RBI over those two seasons, and also has a 95 mph fastball. He'll get a shot to play in the field at 3B/LF or 1B, and also an opportunity to pitch. He's playing with Ike Irish and a couple of other AU guys in the Cape this summer.
** Auburn is still in the market for a starting LHP. ECU's Zach Root chose Arkansas today. Auburn is targeting two other LHP's in Tennessee's Matthew Dallas (1-0, 4.76 ERA, 22 K, 17.0 IP as Fr.) and Florida's Cade Fisher (10-3, 5.30 ERA, 124 K, 108.2 IP as Fr. and So.). Dallas is visiting Sun-Mon.
