He was a fry cook, he was a senator. He was a finger waving, alpha acting, antagonizing, irritant against one of the big brands in college football and was also rumored to be a cuck. He was smart enough to get the people that he was waving his fingers at to vote him into a position where he can have a great influence on the most powerful country on the planet without even knowing that there are a total of three branches of said government.
He hires a "washed up", commie acting, overweight, liberal away from the University of Indiana to run his offense when his own nuts were sitting on the anvil just waiting for the sledge hammer to finally crush them. The fat commie (albeit with the hot-assed wife) comes to one of the most conservative campuses outside of one run by Jerry Falwell and ingratiates himself into the community and installs one of the most exciting offenses in the history of the program. The commie helps lead us to an undefeated season (and at that time this team could have been considered one of the greatest the game has ever seen) and then takes a guy like Brandon Cox and is able to make him a great quarterback and win a bunch of big games.
So what does the hillbilly/visionary do? He fires the commie and hires a drunk redneck to install a wide open offense and get away from everything Auburn offense had ever been. A few games in he has to fire the drunk and quickly goes back to the offensive game he used to know. Was he a fool or a prophet? Shortly thereafter the entire country had moved on to the wide open offensive philosophy that Tub tried to bring to Auburn. If Tub had completely turned the offense over to Franklin or had hired a more mentally stable person to do what Franklin was brought in to do could he have taken Auburn to new heights or would the Red Elephant Club have made it a moot point once they got their guy in place in 2008?
