Smack dab in the middle of drivel season but also in the middle of summer concert season...I wanted to detail the best concerts I have even attended with a top 10 list.
Too long, don't want to read - Kanye West and Jay Z at the Greensboro Coliseum in 2011 is #7
Why it is special
Curveball here...heavy metal guy goes to see a Hip Hop show and is blown away by the production and set list. Without a doubt this show had arguably the best production I have ever seen at a concert. The show starts off with Jay and Kanye on these massive pillars on opposite sides of the arena. They start singing at each other and the pillars start raising...they are actually screens as they raise up and they are like 20-30 feet above the audience on the floor. The creativity these two came up with for an arena show has not been topped to this day for me. As you will see in the setlist below this show was a few songs of them together, a few Jay songs, a few Kanye songs and then they could get back together on stage. It was an incredible experience.
Best video I could find with sound and visual...not great but it was the best I could find.
Highlights
All of the Lights - Kanye
Run this Town - Jay Z
Hard Knock Life - Jay Z
Stronger - Kanye
Encore - Jay Z
Setlist
I apologize in advance @Docdumpsta but LAMP...we got box seats last minute for this one so we were going crazy with about a dozen work friends in the company box.
Supporting Acts
None - just the Headliners
Why it should be higher
To this day the best arena show I have ever seen from a stage and production standpoint. Fire, lasers, the largest arena stage I have ever seen for literally just two guys was impressive. They didn't need to go to that level to sell out this show but both Kanye and Jay went all out for this one. I was blown away and that is saying something.
Why it should be lower
This feels like the right spot
