Smack dab in the middle of drivel season but also in the middle of summer concert season...I wanted to detail the best concerts I have even attended with a top 10 list.
Too long, don't want to read - Metallica at Lollapalooza in Grant Park, Chicago 2015 is #6
Why it is special
So it was obvious that Metallica was going to make this list and this is the first of two entries for them on my top 10. I need to highlight that Chicago is my favorite city to visit in the US...I have such a great connection to the city and a lot of big moments in my life have happened here. My best friend from when I was 12 lived there at the time. I fly in from North Carolina that morning and we proceeded to drink around the entire city for about 8 hours before the show started. We got to eat at the Little Goat Diner which is owned by one of my favorite chefs. But why is this special enough to be a Top 10 concert for me...my favorite band in the world in one of my favorite cities with all of Chicago lit up at night behind me while they played was incredible. I loved every minute of this show. I would recommend seeing a show at night in Grant Park to everyone...it is pretty incredible.
Highlights - It is important to note that I am a cover fiend. I love when bands play covers, it makes my heart very happy...
Am I Evil - Diamond Head Cover (first time seeing them play it live)
Whiskey in the Jar - traditional Cover
Disposable Heroes!!!! (first time seeing them play it live)
King Nothing
Fuel as the opening song
About 50 fans go to watch the show from the stage and to say I was jealous is a massive understatement
Setlist
Odd Memory
So I had an early flight after the show and did not want to inconvenience my friend so I went to the airport after the show and ended up sleeping in the airport before flying home. Would not recommend to anyone.
Supporting Acts
None - Festival
Why it should be higher
I mean these songs were played in this order...One, Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Fade to Black and Seek and Destroy. Are you kidding me!!!!!!
Amazing set, great venue...great concert experience for me.
Why it should be lower
Maybe not the most unique concert but it is special to me...and there were a lot of Metallica shows to choose from.
