TL;DR WARNING - Because I am just that verbose!
1. To the Hugh Haters: if yore against HF because you believe he's scum, I can respect that. Because of his past indiscretions he wasn't my 1st choice. Then, he very stoopidly and recently messaged the alleged sexual assault victim... I read the message, and even though it was benign in content, he was incredibly DUMB for doing it. At the very least, it shows HF still can exhibit questionable behavior. So if yore in this category, while I believe in forgiveness, redemption and personal growth, I can at least understand yore point and respect it.
2. To the HHs: if yore against HF because he wasn't YORE choice for head coach and yore using his past to justify that position, I don't respect that... especially if LK was yore choice. LK cheated on his wife, was caught, lost at least temporary custody of his kids and got divorced because of it. His recent social media exploits, like HF, shows at least questionable and sometimes childish behavior for an adult professional. But like HF, LK can be forgiven, redeemed and exhibit personal growth.
3. To the HHs: if yore against HF because you wanted Coach Prime, Coach Caddy, Lanning or even Grimes, I can also respect that. Because of Auburn's biggest obstacle... talent... I believed Prime or Caddy, surrounded by experienced SEC assistants, stood the best chance at leveling the field the fastest, even though it wasn't a guarantee.
4. To the Hugh Lovers: To the few I saw who had HF as their 1st choice from the start, help me understand why you believed he was a better choice than LK, Lanning, Prime or Caddy. Again, I can understand this position but didn't share it because of my own concerns that included both professional and personal questions. I'm including this group because I seriously want to feel better about this hire, and unlike many here, have an open mind that is willing to learn and grow.
But since he is now Auburn Head Coach Hugh Freeze, continuing to post childish japes, disparaging commentary and joining in on the social media bashing will do NOTHING to help the football program you claim to support. Since it's still a free country, everyone is entitled to any opinion. But in a day and culture where words can, have and will bring negative consequences to young men who don't deserve it, please consider doing something many here just don't seem to have the ability to do... STFU for a change (in my world, the "F" stands for "FIG").
If mudder and others can bomb the Bunker with multiple posts griping about HF, why we didn't hire Prime, Caddy or Lanning, I have the right to make ONE POST simply asking a few questions. I hope CHF is a changed man, truly repentant of past turrble choices and absolutely KILLS it at Auburn. If you don't want to support him that's certainly yore choice. But I also hope you have the quality of character to at least do so with as little hypocrisy and vitriol as possible.
