We're back for another week!
LIST OF AFFILIATES AND LINKS
PREDICTION: Carnell was GOATed last week, but he was in the studio. I wonder if the adoring crowd will affect him this time around.
...
NOT ANDY says Carnell received a STANDING O when he arrived. (Also note that he's ON TIME.)
Not Andy wants to know how Carnell feels about the crowd and this moment. "First of all, War Eagle. I am just excited, just the support. I want to thank the Auburn family. We are ecstatic with the support we have. I am excited to be here."
Andy asks if Carnell realizes how much support he has and the team has. "Again, I am humbled and grateful, just the way this Auburn family ... many, many years ago, I played here so it doesn't surprise me. I'm honored just to be able to call Auburn home."
Not Andy wants to know if this week feels differently than last week. "From a team standpoint, it's night and day — especially for us coaches. The bombshell was dropped on Monday (last week) ... there was a lot of scrambling there. We've had more time this week. We had an extra day to really lock in on Texas A&M. On MOnday, we had an opportunity to work all day to come up with a plan. I was a scared puppy (last) Monday. Anxiety was high. I want to thank this staff. I want to thank these kids. It made me realize why I'm doing this. They gave me the confidence. You all make my job a lot easier. This staff and these players, I could not do this without them."
Julie/Juli/Julee is in the house. She wants to Carnell to know everyone was proud of the team last week. Her question: Are they changing much in terms of strategy. "Great question. My message to the coordinators ... right now, simple is better. We don't need a lot of exotic things. What we lack in talent and Xs and Os ... I really feel like our effort and our unity is going to cover a lot of that. We have simplified a lot of things where our guys could play fast. I thank God for this staff."
**COMMERCIAL BREAK**
Matt on the emails wants to know how many steps Carnell got during the MSU game. Carnell says he was on the elliptical that morning. "I had over 30,000 steps."
Was he tired after that? ANSWER YES! GUFFAWS ALL AROUND.
Buster is in the house. He's fired up to talk with Carnell Williams. He liked the effort last weekend. Buster asks if Carnell and Zac got hurt on the sideline last weekend. "It was so weird on that play. I just saw nobody out there covering guys to the field. I was like: Holy crap, they're about to get this first down. I just took off running. I saw him running. Of course, I passed Zac. (GUFFAWS ALL AROUND). I didn't want to blow that (call)."
Andy asks about Auburn's defense getting pressure on the quarterback a bit. "We'd been saying all week — fight or quit. I got an opportunity to read to those guys. I can pull the text up what I read to those guys. (He can't find it.) It was just a guy saying he wanted to see them playing relentless ... and playing that hard-nosed Auburn defense. I was just so excited to see how those guys flew to the ball. That just goes back to what us coaches were stressing all week. It was serve and believe. You can still serve the team by playing complementary football. The whole defense was lights out."
Will is in the house. He wants to ask about Carnell leading the team out Saturday inside Jordan-Hare. "Wow. I've been trying to go there and my mind won't even let me process it right now. I can't even imagine it. Lord have mercy, it's going to be very special to have a lot of my former teammates ... it'll be 25, 30 guys. Our team will be able to see those guys (in the locker room) ... trailblazers. A lot of of Auburn football is through blood, sweat and tears. I can't even process it right now, to be honest with you."
**COMMERCIAL BREAK**
Not Andy notes that Auburn is playing a game this weekend. He asks about A&M. "I've got a lot of respect for Jimbo Fisher and the rest of the guys on that stuff. They're a really talented bunch. Offensively, of course, they run that pro-style offense. I'm not sure who will be the starter (at quarterback). We'll definitely have to play out A game to pull out this victory."
Andy says A&M's tailback Achane is good. (Really?) He says the road team wins a lot in this series. No question asked. "Achane, he's a phenomenal all-purpose back. He can do it all. He can run with the best of 'em. He can take it the distance. It's going to be a challenge for us. We're looking forward to being in front of this crowd. We're going to have that Auburn spirit. We're going to have these fans. I feel like magic is going to happen Saturday night."
Not Andy wants to talk about Achane again. He says Achane is a good cut-back runner. "The key to defending a guy (like that) ... we've got to rally to the football. We've got to hunt. We've got to play relentless, Auburn defense. I'm excited to watch that defense. When I was a player here ... Coach Tuberville and Coach Gran got mad at me because I always stepped up (during defensive possessions) and watched the defense."
Andy asks about JOhnathan Legrand being named an honorary captain this wekend. "I'm blessed and honored for what he did with his service. I'm honored that he's on this team."
"Thank you all for having me."
Carnell finishes with an optimistic, energetic and mirthful WAR EAGLE.
BE GOOD. BE YOU. BE WHERE YOUR FEET ARE.
I LOVE YOU ALL.
