Should be a dandy. It'll be BRYAN HARSIN's debut.
LIST OF AFFILIATES AND LINKS
PREDICTION: Man, I don't even know what to expect.
*****
6:01 — The soothing sounds of RADIO ANDY is back for another year. He is live in the Tigers' Den at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Andy says Sir Allen Greene is in the house along with some players. Coach Bryan Harsin will be join the show later via telephony.
COMMERICAL BREAK
6:04 — Not Andy calls this the "Season Premiere," which is accurate and apt.
6:05 — Not Andy thanks Allen for taking time to being on the show, but that's kinda his job, right?
6:05 — Andy thanks Allen for calling him "cool." GUFFAW EXPECTED, NONE OFFERED. #cold
6:06 — They're talking about soccer and volleyball.
6:07 — Andy thinks Allen is looking forward to the stadium being PACKOLA for Akron, but Allen doesn't say anything that I could hear. "Students only get one shot at college," Greene said. "Now it's your time to go. To have them joined by those of us who are more experienced in life is going to be fun."
6:08 — Allen talks about possible "shifts in the wind" as far as Life During COVID unfolds. "We're prepared to pivot," he says. "We don't like it, but that's the environment we're in. We were just surviving last year. Now we need to thrive."
6:09 — Andy keeps asking about this. Allen says he and DOC GOODLETT are "married." GUFFAWS ALL AROUND. Allen jokes that he spends more time talking with DOC GOODLETT than his own wife.
6:11 — Not Andy asks about the football team. "Energy that is unbelievable. I think our players rise to the level of our coaches."
6:12 — Andy asks what Allen is looking forward to. Allen says he wants to see his student-athletes compete and he also wants to see fans inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. That's a wrap for AG. Moderate applause follows him out. No word on if the General was clapping or perhaps was going over softball budgets with MICKEY SO FINE.
COMMERICAL BREAK
COACH BRYAN HARSIN HAS JOINED THE SHOW
6:15 — Andy asks how he's feeling. "I'm feeling good, fortunate that way. I'm looking forward to getting back."
6:16 — Not Andy asks where he is (??) relative to his team's readiness. I don't see this on my Google Maps. "Ten days out is when you're fully into gameplan mode for your first opponent. We're executing more consistently. The plays you've been running through camps are the same ones you're running down ... just pared down for that next opponent. We're playing to the ball. We know how to communicate."
6:17 — Harsin reiterates that he'll be in the office beginning Monday. He commends SCHMEDDING for his work in Harsin's stead these past few days.
6:18 — Julie/Juli has a question via email. She asks about CHANDLER WOOTEN as a team captain. "Both of those guys have made a huge impact since I've been there. (Talking about Owen Pappoe as well.) Chandler, since I've been with him, has done a tremedous job of just stepping up and being that leader ... with Owen. And he's done a great job on special teams."
6:19 — Andy asks about Chandler's initial pledge to Harsin that he'd be a leader. "It's like: Let's go out there and prove it. He proved it each and every day." (Harsin also commends Pappoe and Bo Nix for welcoming him with open arms.) Harsin later refers to Wooten as "a dude," which he says with reverence. I WANT TO BE A DUDE!!
6:21 — Not Andy wants to talk about the little changes Harsin has made. "If you're injured, take the elevator. If you're not, take the stairs. You've gotta climb. I climb those stairs probably 18 times a day. It's who we are; we're BLUE COLLAR." ($1 to @Docdumpsta). "The definition of leadership is: When you need it, provide it."
Harsin then commends Donovan Kaufman, Nehemiah Pritchett for their leadership.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Not Andy mentions VICTORY GRILL in Auburn. They have calzones? I LOVE CALZONES. I had a great experience at Victory Grill earlier this summer, no cap. Will be back.
6:28 — Not Andy asks about assessing players on a daily basis. Harsin says it's about consistency. He also says guys who also play on special teams have an advantage. "Where does he have a role on special teams? Get on the bus. There are different ways to do that. Make sure you have a significant role on special teams. It has to be an ALL-IN mentality."
6:30 — Herb has a question from the TIGERS' DEN. He wants to know about a difference in this team versus what they did last season. "Hard for me to gauge. The (top) focus was just on Auburn, making sure that we solve any issues we have with the team at that point. No comparisons, no excuses. Last season, I wasn't a part of it. We've come a long way in just a few months. It's promising, the direction that we're headed as far as the focus and the work ethic we've displayed."
6:33 — Not Andy wants Harsin to basically share his raison de vivre for his supporters. Weird request. "What I've seen from inside the walls of our facility is a group of guys and coaches who are working very hard and love Auburn. There's that newness of what we're going to look like. What's going to be different that way? We have to prove that and show it on game day. We feel that — the excitement building (around town.) We're all just looking forward to getting back out there and having a great season. We feel supported."
Harsin ends with a firm "Thank you, War Eagle."
BE GOOD. BE YOU.
