Hey, everybody!!!!

It's your (unlikely) favorite moderator and staff member, Brian Stultz, filling in for the beloved and legendary Jay G. Tate this evening for Tiger Talk. I will try to update as much as possible while also bringing the funny because, as I know, you all LOVE my humor.

What will Bryan Harsin talk about tonight? Will he do the show shirtless? Will I update this thread shirtless? (I don't know, not likely and never.)

Guests include: Brad Bedell (tight ends coach) and Brent Crouch (volleyball).

Let's rock 'n' roll as we hear the coach after his first defeat as the head coach of the Tigers.

(This totally remind me of listening to Tiger Talk on Thursday evenings growing up in Kentucky via AOL dial-up. Great memories.)

BRENT CROUCH

- Tiger host Ole Miss tonight at Auburn Arena. So, I'm guessing this part is pre-recorded ... BUT first, a commercial.

- Wait, Crouch left USC to come to Auburn? So he's the anti-Gus Malzahn, I suppose. 😏

- If you are unaware, the Tigers of volleyball form are 8-1 on the season. Pretty, pretty good. They play Rebels tonight at 8 p.m.

- Auburn's Bella Rosenthall has been named SEC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks. "She deserves it," Crouch says.

- Crouch says Ole Miss (11-0) has done a great job of turning the program around. No word if Lane Kiffin has gotten to know any of the players.

- Crouch competed in beach volleyball for a few years so for all you ladies out there, I'm sure you can find some pics of the Auburn coach in jean shorts and playing Tom Cruise.

- He credits his players for how much they have improved from last spring and through the summer to now. Points out Val Green and Jackie Barrett who he calls one of the best servers in the SEC.

- Auburn's added a match against Alabama State on Sunday at 3 p.m. so for all those still in town you have a chance to see them play. (Three matches were cancelled in the preseason due to Hurricane Ida.)

- Key against Ole Miss is to serve well and tough. Puts the pressure on the opposing team. Coincidentally, serve well and tough is exactly how The Sizzler does its steaks.

- "We don't need Michael Jordan taking every shot." - SIR!

- That's all for Crouch. Seems like a good guy. I'm going to attend a volleyball match soon.

- OHHHHH! We are getting Anders Carlson and long snapper Jacob Quattlebaum which I'm pretty sure is fake name.

- Andy Burcham is interviewing all 5 homecoming queen candidates on Saturday so, there's that...

BRAD BEDELL

- Bedell credits Luke Deal for his physicality.

- "Playing big-boy football" - Bedell says while saying no more swing screens. SHOT TAKEN!

- Bedell says his experience as an offensive lineman and offensive line coach helps his tight ends in blocking as far as footwork, hand placement and head placement.

- How did he meet Harsin? When Bryan got the job at Arkansas State job. Bedell was at New Mexico State at the time. Went to Jonesboro, did a two-day interview (exhausting!) and got the job. Followed Dennis Franchione (remember him? wow!) to Texas State.

- Bedell is not a huge social media person. I wonder if he reads you guys because, if not, he's missing out.

- "As long as your coach is growing, your kids aren't going to get complacent."

- "It's another opportunity." - On the Georgia State game. Says it REALLY IS one game at a time. Mentions the upsets this weekend by Memphis and Fresno State. "Have to put the last one to bed." Darn right!

- This is a team that is coming and would love nothing more than beating Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

- Coldest game he's played in? At Packers in the playoffs. It was -30 degrees.

- Brett Favre stories you can tell on the air live? Maybe about texting? Sexting? Nope. "If you jump offsides, he's going to throw the ball at your head."

Anders Carlson and Jacob Quattlebaum (I feel dirty just typing his last name) coming up.

- Quattlebaum is the President of the Student Advisory Council this year. Pretty impressive. I'm officially changing my last name to Quattlebaum.

- Carlson was up in the air flying yesterday. Didn't fly anywhere specifically. Practicing sharp turns. Said it was a lovely day in the skies.

- Quattlebaum has to balance his time between handling Carlson and the punter Oscar Chapman.

- "I don't want to know the number." - Anders on how many times he kicks the ball into the net per game.

- Carlson says he put in the jab step technique into his kicking routine after his freshman year. Said he was getting to the ball too quick.

- Quattlebaum is an Electric Engineering major. A lot of coding and .... yeah, that's the only thing I understood that he said. I'm not the smartest.

- "He was a graduate from the school across the state, which is unfortunate." - Quattlebaum on his high school teacher that sort of got him interested in engineering. I like this kid.

- "Anders didn't have the best game so it kind of had me rattled a little bit." - Quattlebaum on the first time he was snapping the ball in a game, two years ago against Ole Miss.

- Anders talks to his brother, Daniel, almost every other day.

That is it for the Carlson-Quattlebaum duo who will now be the name of two characters in my next book. Bryan Harsin coming up....

- Quick confession: I don't think I have ever had Golden Flake chips. Am I missing out?

BRYAN HARSIN

- "It was a good Wednesday practice." - Scout team was giving the first team some good looks of Georgia State. That type of offense (the option) is difficult to defend.

- "We didn't flush it right away." - Harsin on the Penn State loss. Didn't flush it away until watched film of the game. "What did we have the chance to control."

- "Don't make the same mistake twice. Learn from it."

- Most encouraged by on offense? The offensive line has done some good things. Tigers were able to run the ball. Really likes the way Tank is practicing. Jarquez has stepped up. Mostly, tight ends and o-line have really stepped up.

- Things need to work on? Explosive plays. Breaking tackles. And, get this, hitting some throws down the field.

- On Chandler Wooten and Wesley Steiner: "It's what you need to do when guys go down. I thought those guys came in, they were ready."

- On Zakoby McClain's hit: "He's doing everything he can to not put him in that position." Says unfortunate it happened.

- "D-line elevated their game, some in the secondary elevated their game." Okay then.

- Big week for linebackers against Georgia State because they like to run the ball. "That's who they are. They're well-coached. They play hard."

- The first consistent from Harsin of the show. Wow. Quite shocked.

- Georgia State has three tailbacks that they throw at you.

- Auburn Bank: The Champions of You. Yeah, that slogan isn't convincing me to put my millions of dollars into their trust. Wait, did I say millions? I have said too much.

- According to the commercial, Harsin drives a Ford F-150. Not as cool as my Toyota, Coach.

- "We get more explosive with him out there." - On Shaun Shivers returning this week. Says he's doing well. Provides another spark. Still think he's third string now but that's just my opinion.

- HONORARY CAPTAINS: "Marquis has been showing up. He's been the D-lineman of the game a couple of times."

- Luke Deal: "He's part of the Tiger Club, one of the leaders on our team." Provides example for what Harsin and the staff is trying to build at Auburn.

- "There's a lot of pride in that." - On being named an honorary captain, mentions especially for family.

- "We look at what they've been doing." - Asks coaching staff for names of players for names that have stood out in all aspects (classroom, weight room, etc...) to name honorary captains.

- "They are going to do things that cause problems if you're not ready for it." - On Georgia State defensive line. Says offensive line, tight ends, guys in protection have to be on point.

- "We've had guys that haven't played that much yet that have an opportunity." - On looking for more depth at wide receiver.

And that wraps up Harsin and this week's episode of Tiger Talk. I hope you enjoyed me filling in for the Commodore this week and I will be more than happy to do it anytime he wants.

Have a great night!
