After really struggling for a while, we’ve shot 40+% in four of our last five games (three of those against the 1st, 3rd and 5th best defense in the SEC), our season average is now at 34.7% (136th nationally, and in SEC play we are shooting 35.8%, which is 4th in the SEC. And for our resident Oats-lovers (and I know there are a bunch), Alabama’s amazing three point shooting team is shooting 36.3% in the SEC, good for 3rd and just a tad better than us. And, of course, our defense is vastly better.
It would be nice if our PGs would start scoring a little more, but I am ok with Denver getting rolling. We’ve got four guys shooting better than 40% from 3 in SEC play (Jaylin, CBM, Denver and Broome). Thats pretty good, especially when we also have strong post play.
So maybe this squad can shoot the rock a little bit, for all the worries that we don’t shoot well enough to win in March, we’ve actually been pretty damn good in the SEC, and we are shooting our best of late. Including having 80% of our starters shooting better than 40% from deep in conference play.
