has constantly changed and it has almost always been a result of war. In the United States currently you have a huge division of beliefs in what is the right way to move forward. You have the democrats that want to have give away programs and you have republicans that have more of a Darwinist approach (ironically because for the most part they believe in creation) in terms of let each man determine his own fate. Each time the oval office changes from one to the other we do the opposite of what we have been doing for the last 4 (or 8 or 12) years which means we are spending our resources in the opposite manner that we were just spending them under the previous regime. You have multiple other issues that we as sheep get on board with as we tend to believe whatever "our" side tells us is the right thing (abortion, spending on welfare programs vs. spending on bombs, more government vs. less government, etc. We make our country weaker as we do one thing for 4 years and do the opposite for the next 4. Countries like China work in one direction with a plan as opposed to changing course every 4 years like we do and that is largely why they have closed the gap with us or moved ahead of us.
With all of that said, wouldn't it make sense to split up the good ole USA through legislation instead of violence? Why have half of the country pissed off for 4 years and the other half pissed off for the next 4 when the leadership changes hands? Have the democrats outline a set of laws, etc. that their side would put into effect and have the republicans do the same. After everyone has had time to review the guidelines they could decide which country they want to live in. This would allow each of the two sides to move in the direction that they want. I can promise you that people would actually think about which one they would vote for instead of knowing 4 years out which side they were going to vote for without any real deliberation. Once you decide which of the 3 countries you wanted to go to you would be stuck there unless you later applied to change countries and were accepted by the other country (like immigration now).
you could also designate a portion of the country as the "black states of america" or whatever name you would want to assign and this could potentially allow for them to govern themselves. It would also be the end of talk about things such as reparations as there would no longer be a history of discrimination in this newly formed country.
The country would be split up in terms of natural resources, farmland, etc. by percentage of people in each new country.
The red states of america might allow citizens to have armaments including anything and everything from BB guns to AK-47's to surface to air missiles if they wanted and the blue states of america might not even allow a slingshot. In the red states of america you might have the day after pill outlawed and in the blue states of america you might be able to have an "abortion" at 3 years of age (if you don't like the kid, you can legally kill it). In the red states of america you might be allowed to shoot a person if they step foot on your land and in the blue states you might be able to loot someone's house without any ramifications. As it is now, the more radical the position you take on one side or the other, the more likely you are to get elected. This split might make people on both sides come to their senses and quit trying to go to one extreme or the other.
