How much closer is Auburn this year after a top 8 recruiting class, player development, and the fortunate losses of Tuscaloosa? Hugh has brought the gap up many times in press conferences, and he is obviously in a better spot than he was a year ago. Texas, LSU, and Georgia seem to have the best rosters in the SEC currently, with Alabama slipping behind or into the 3-4 slot. Lets also not forget, according to computer rankings and the transfer portal, with 3 of those teams the gap got larger. Is one more recruiting class and some key transfer pieces enough for Auburn to have an elite level roster? Or should the bar really be set for 2026?
I think it will take that elite level roster to satisfy the fanbase. As well as being in contention for a playoff spot or conference title on a yearly basis.
